Our first official “Gig” at Amy and Murray’s wedding in January at Boomrock lodge, Wellington. Amy supplied some beautiful bottles of Single Malt Scotch Whisky as well as a lovely Port, and the guests got through 20 cigars between them over the course of the night. We had a selection of Arturo Fuente Short Story (the most favoured), Romeo Y Julieta Habana Reserve and H Upmann Regalias.
The lounge was set up on the verandah at Boomrock lodge instead of the usual marquee we usually bring. It was a bit tight but it still worked really well and guests enjoyed sitting on the antique and chesterfield style sofa’s, with the Mahogany drinks cabinet to serve the spirits from.
Some guests had not smoked cigars before, and it was a pleasure to show them the etiquette around cigar smoking, how to hold it, how to cut it,light it, and of course, how to smoke it.
The Whisky’s supplied were also an education for many, with the highlands, Lowlands and Islay’s represented. Ice is supplied with the Lounge as well as Spring Water and a water dropper for diluting the Cask Strength Arran that was on offer.
The title of Gentlemen’s Lounge is meant to conjure up an image in the mind of the old-fashioned Drawing Room where men retired after dinner, but of course we also welcome Ladies into the Lounge and we have Sobranie Cocktail Cigarettes with the brightly coloured filter papers and gold tips. Reminiscent of the swinging 20’s!.
We’ll be displaying the Gentlemen’s Lounge at the Wellington Wedding Show in May at the TSB Arena if you’d like to come and see us and make a booking. We’ll have cigars for sale and a tasting of Whisky.
